EXCLUSIVE: 2024 Steamtown Music Award nominees in 35 categories announced in Scranton
Today, the Electric City Music Conference announced the full list of nominees for the 11th annual Steamtown Music Awards in 35 different categories, encapsulating the diverse musical tapestry of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Fans, friends, and family can now vote for their favorite artists, bands, and music industry professionals at electriccitymusicconference.com. Online voting makes up 50 percent of the final vote in each category and will end next Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. The remaining 50 percent will be determined by the SMAs committee, ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation. Winners of the online vote will also receive a People’s Choice Award, even if they are not selected as the overall winner of the category.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, chosen by the committee each year, will be given to Eddie Appnel, a celebrated singer/songwriter and founding member of Pittston rock band Mere Mortals.
Set to take place on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at The V-Spot (906 Providence Rd., Scranton), the award ceremony stands as a cornerstone of the Electric City Music Conference, spotlighting the remarkable talent and contributions of musicians and music professionals in the vibrant 570 area code. Nominees, performers, and presenters will enjoy complimentary access to the Steamtown Music Awards, fostering an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates the entire music community. Tickets for guests are available for purchase at $10.
As the red carpet rolls out, nominees and visitors will have the chance to make a grand entrance, with live streamed interviews via NEPA Scene, official red carpet photos, and surprises, adding glamour to the event. The award ceremony itself will feature DJ Hersh and captivating live performances by Pucker Up!, Portland Frank, Retrovai, Methadonix, Cat Matthews, Ivy, Justin Bravo & The Kind, and Gracie Jane Sinclair, showcasing the exceptional talent that defines the region’s music scene.
The ECMC continues on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14 with over 150 bands from NEPA and across the country performing at eight different venues – Backyard Ale House, The Bog, Harry’s, The Marketplace at Steamtown, Mutant Brewing, The Ritz Theater, The Shakes Space, and The V-Spot.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in panel discussions and mentoring sessions on Sept. 13 and Sept. 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at The V-Spot, creating a platform for local musicians, professionals, and music fans to connect and learn.
“Don’t miss the chance to be part of the 11th annual Steamtown Music Awards, where the magic of music and the spirit of community converge to honor and elevate the vibrant NEPA music scene,” organizer Joe Caviston said.
