Wise Crackers searches for ‘NEPA’s Funniest’ comedian in first-ever contest at Mohegan Pa. in Wilkes-Barre

From a press release:
Northeastern Pennsylvania’s biggest comedy club is looking for the area’s funniest person.
Wise Crackers, located inside Mohegan Pennsylvania in Wilkes-Barre, has announced its inaugural NEPA’s Funniest Contest. This summer, local comedians – and wanna-be comedians – will battle it out for the title of funniest in the region. With sharp wit, hilarious punchlines, and plenty of surprises, this competition promises to keep audiences rolling in the aisles as they witness the rise of the next big comedic star.
Open to the public, the 21+ contest will run every Sunday from June 1 through Sept. 7, excluding holiday weekends, and is set to feature three initial rounds of stand-up where the audience gets to vote for their favorite acts alongside a panel of local comedian judges, so contestants are encouraged to bring their friends to help boost their chances. Round 1 is a five-minute set, Round 2 is a 10-minute set, and semi-finals sets on Aug. 24 are 12 minutes. Those who make it to the finals on Sept. 7 will get 15 minutes to impress the judges and take home the comedy crown.
The first place winner will receive a $500 cash prize and a spot to emcee at Pennsylvania venues like Wise Crackers, the Emmaus Theater, Soul Joel’s, and more. Second place is $100, and third place is $25.
Contestant sign-ups are open now at wisecrackers.biz and end on Sunday, May 25. There is a non-refundable $25 entry fee.
Tickets for all three rounds, as well as the finals, are $10 and on sale now at wisecrackers.biz.
