The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins opened their Calder Cup Playoff series versus archrivals the Hershey Bears by taking a 3-0 lead by mid-second period. The Bears applied pressure, scoring two goals, but it wasn’t enough as goalie Sergei Murashov withstood an onslaught of Hershey shots, going 29-31 on the night. Avery Hayes scored an empty net goal in the last minute of play, capping off a 4-2 Pens win and a 1-0 series lead.
