From a press release:

As movie theaters begin to let limited audiences back inside, Fathom Events has announced a few special screenings for the rest of 2020, including some just in time for Halloween.

“Friday the 13th,” one of the most popular horror franchises of all time, is celebrating 40 years with the original terrifying film that started it all, restored and remastered on the big screen.

In this still-scary shocker, the new owner and several young counselors gather to reopen Camp Crystal Lake. Years ago, a young boy named Jason Voorhees drowned and a series of vicious murders occurred thereafter. Despite locals’ warnings that the place has a death curse, the new crew continues on to relaunch the camp. One by one, they find out how unlucky Friday the 13th can be as they are stalked by a violent killer.

Event attendees will also be treated to a special featurette, “Secrets Galore Behind the Gore.” Revolutionary special effects and makeup artist Tom Savini will look at some of the groundbreaking gory great moments in the original “Friday the 13th,” which was directed by Sean S. Cunningham and written by Victor Miller.

The 1980 film will be presented on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.; and Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. in select movie theaters through Fathom Events’ Digital Broadcast Network, including Cinemark 20 and XD (40 Glenmaura National Blvd., Moosic), R/C Wilkes-Barre Movies 14 (24 E. Northampton St., Wilkes-Barre), Cinemark Stroud Mall and XD (160 Stroud Mall, Stroudsburg), and AMC Classic Bloomsburg 11 (1879 Columbia Blvd., Bloomsburg).

Times and dates vary at each theater. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting fathomevents.com or at participating theater box offices.

On Oct. 13, Jason is back in a new deluxe set of the entire series. This Blu-ray box set enshrines the most successful horror series in cinema history as the hockey-masked killer slashes his way from Crystal Lake to outer space and back to fight Freddy Krueger.
