Today, the Electric City Music Conference kicked off its highly anticipated 11th annual Steamtown Music Awards by officially opening nominations for the upcoming celebration. Enthusiasts and industry experts are invited to nominate their favorite bands, artists, and music industry professionals at electriccitymusicconference.com.

Scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 12 in Scranton, the SMAs stand as a cornerstone of the ECMC, spotlighting the remarkable talent and contributions of musicians and music professionals in the vibrant 570 area code.

Starting Feb. 1, fans can cast their nominations in over 35 categories, recognizing excellence across various aspects of the local music scene. From Song of the Year to Music Video of the Year to Recording Studio of the Year to Concert Photographer of the Year, these awards encapsulate the diverse musical tapestry of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

A unique feature of the SMAs is the incorporation of online voting, constituting 50 percent of the final vote in each category. The remaining 50 percent will be determined by the SMAs committee, ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation. Adding an extra layer of excitement, the People’s Choice Award in each category will highlight standout performers who have garnered significant fan support through social media and live concerts.

Nominees, performers, and presenters will enjoy complimentary access to the Steamtown Music Awards, fostering an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates the entire music community. Tickets for guests are available for purchase at $10.

As the red carpet gets ready to roll out, nominees and visitors will have the chance to make a grand entrance, with live streamed interviews via NEPA Scene, official red carpet photos, and surprises, adding glamour to the event. The award ceremony itself will feature captivating live performances, showcasing the exceptional talent that defines the region’s music scene.

As an integral part of the Electric City Music Conference, the SMAs contribute to a three-day celebration featuring over 150 bands from across the country performing at various venues. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in panel discussions and mentoring sessions, creating a platform for local musicians, professionals, and music fans to connect and learn.

Every year, the magic of music and the spirit of community converge to honor and elevate the vibrant NEPA music scene at the Steamtown Music Awards.
