New York Yankees third baseman DJ LeMahieu donned NEPA’s beloved SWB logo during his rehab start with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Saturday, May 25. Fans looking for signatures were in luck. The Yankees slugger was happy to oblige as he autographed hats and jerseys from the dugout. Local Little Leaguers on hand for pre-game warm-ups got the thrill of high fives from a Yankees star.

On the field, however, the 35-year-old future Hall of Famer looked more concerned with not reinjuring his broken right foot than hustling for ground balls or getting hits as the home team fell 9-5 to the Syracuse Mets. The loss was all about pitching and not LeMahieu’s infield play, which was solid even if he was somewhat disinterested. The large crowd on hand was still happy to see the three-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove winner, and two-time batting champion play a game at PNC Field in Moosic.
