SHELTER SUNDAY: Meet Dexter (pit bull mix) and Allen (tuxedo cat)
Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge teams up with NEPA Scene every week for Shelter Sunday, a post that features dogs, cats, and occasionally some surprises up for adoption in the hopes of finding them a loving home.
Blue Chip Farm (974 Lockville Rd., Dallas) is a no-kill shelter, a place where no animal is too old or too unwanted to find a warm bed, good food and, most of all, love. Their mission is to provide a sanctuary where older, stray, abandoned, sick, or abused animals can wait to be adopted or simply live out their lives in safety and peace.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment. Call 570-333-5265 or visit bcfanimalrefuge.org for more information.
Dexter is a 3-year-old pit bull mix. He was surrendered due to the small dogs in the home going after him too often, but he is a lover and as sweet as can be.
He is good with other dogs, cats, and kids. Dexter is a gentle soul who just wants to be pet and loved. He is anxious at the shelter, always wanting to be around the volunteers to give them hugs and kisses.
Dexter is fun, playful, and loves everything and everyone. Someone needs to come by and scoop him up!
Allen is a handsome 4-year-old black-and-white tuxedo cat.
He is a character and he knows it. Allen lists his likes as “following the volunteers for treats,” “telling you he’s hungry,” and getting a hug before they leave. He’s an affectionate, goofy guy that likes to be noticed.
He can be a little shy at first, but he warms up to people quickly. Allen would do best in a quiet home.
If you would like to adopt this sweet cat, please fill out an adoption application at bcfanimalrefuge.org and call 570-333-5265 to arrange a meet and greet.
