From a press release:

The Gaslight Theatre Company will open its new season with the next entry in its celebrated “Playroom” series, “Dining Room,” which runs this weekend and the next at the East End Centre in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, Aug. 17 through Sunday, Aug. 26.

The series, created by playwright and former artistic director/board member Matthew S. Hinton, uses the same set design to inspire playwrights to craft individual one-acts around the same space. The stories are showcased between small vignettes that tie the series together to create an evening of short-form, repertory theatre. While all plays are placed in the same house, each are unique.

This year for its seventh annual show, the company has relocated to the dining room for seven plays written by the region’s most talented playwrights, including “Dinner with Osmina” by Matthew S. Hinton, “Sisters” by Rachel Luann Strayer, “Horseplay” by Dane Bower, “Foreign” by Emily Halbing, “Happy Enough” by Michael Pavese, and “Playroom’s” first-ever musical “Counter Counter” with book and lyrics by B. Garret Rogan, music by Mike Little, and two arrangements by Larry Vojtko.

“Playroom” is one of Gaslight’s most popular productions of the season, both on stage and off. In 2018, the series features a cast and crew of over 35 individuals from Luzerne and Lackawanna counties, many of whom have returned year after year. Previous rooms include the kitchen, bathroom, attic, master bedroom, garage, and back porch.

Performances will be held on Aug. 17, 18, 24, and 25 at 8 p.m. and Aug. 19 and 26 at 3 p.m.

Tickets, which are $15 for adults and $12 for students, seniors, and veterans, are on sale now and can be purchased online via Ticketfly or at the door; tickets are not available by phone. Advanced purchases are highly recommended, as seating is general admission and limited. The Gaslight Theatre box office (200 East End Centre, Heinz Rd., Wilkes-Barre) will be open one hour prior to performances.
