From a press release:

Forget pairing beer and food – the next big thing in Northeastern Pennsylvania is pairing beer with music, and Gallery of Sound in Wilkes-Barre has teamed up with Susquehanna Brewing Company in Pittston to create the perfect combination for any taste.

This Sunday, Dec. 9 from noon-6 p.m., Susquehanna Brewing Company (635 S. Main St., Pittston) will host the inaugural NEPA Swap & Hops Pop-Up Record Fair. Approximately 5,000 records from Gallery of Sound’s inventory will be available at the event before they’re offered at retail locations, offering collectors a first-look at items for their own collection or for gifts this holiday season.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own records to sell or trade – either while walking the fair floor or at a table. Space is available to individuals, groups, and retail entities for $25 per six-foot table rental. To apply for space, call 570-829-3603 or fill out this form.

For patrons just as interested in ABV as they are RPM, Susquehanna Brewing will offer two happy hours from noon-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Free brewery tours will be offered at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., featuring a complementary 10-ounce new beer tasting at the end of each tour. While the event is for all ages, attendees must be 21+ to consume alcohol.

Admission is free, and the first 150 attendees will receive music-related swag, including a canvas record bag courtesy of event partner Record Store Crawl. Live DJs will use vinyl to curate the afternoon’s soundtrack, and local food vendors like Wilkes-Barre’s Bettelli’s Villa will provide on-site food options.

Since 1972, Joe Nardone’s Gallery of Sound has provided Northeastern Pennsylvania with its physical media fix. Today, the store’s Wilkes-Barre and Dickson City locations stock a curated selection of collectible used vinyl, as well as limited edition variants of new release vinyl. NEPA Swap & Hops is Gallery of Sound’s latest venture in its continued support of the area’s music collecting community.

Susquehanna Brewing Company’s slogan “brewed right” is a promise backed up by its history as sixth generation beer brewers and its success as World Beer Cup gold medal winners. With state-of-the-art equipment and a penchant for great taste, SBC brews and bottles beers that can be found on shelves and taps throughout NEPA, while the in-house taproom serves their newest concoctions. NEPA Swap & Hops is the latest in a long line of events hosted by the brewery that represent its commitment to bringing people together over good craft beer.

Listen to Joe Nardone Jr., co-owner of the Gallery of Sound record stores and owner of Rockology Music Academy, and Fred Maier, co-owner and co-founder of Susquehanna Brewing Company, talk about this event, the music and beer industries, and more in Episode 85 of the NEPA Scene Podcast:
