From a press release:

Hit comedy television show “The Goldbergs” will “get away from it all” when Erica Goldberg and Geoff Schwartz plan a secret romantic getaway to the Pocono Mountains in an all-new episode entitled “Major League’d,” airing this Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

As part of the episode, Geoff (played by Sam Lerner) surprises Erica (Hayley Orrantia) with a weekend getaway to the Pocono Mountains to celebrate their landmark “Kiss-A-Versary” while lying to his father about his whereabouts.

After presenting his girlfriend with tulips, Geoff tells his love, “I also booked us a romantic getaway to the Poconos!”

“The Poconos!” exclaims Erica. “That’s the most scenic and budget-friendly mountain range. … This is amazing!”

Set in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, “The Goldbergs” is based on executive producer Adam F. Goldberg’s experiences of growing up in a Philadelphia suburban family in the 1980s. Goldberg often inserts recreations of his personal life into the show, including actual videos from his youth.

“I remember all of the TV commercials in the 1980s encouraging people to ‘get away from it all’ and visit the Poconos for a romantic getaway,” Goldberg said.

“I have amazing memories of skiing in the Pocono Mountains in the winter and attending summers there at Camp Echo Lark.”

“In my family, the Pocono Mountains are infamous because my oldest sibling drove there for a secret romantic getaway with his girlfriend and flipped my dad’s car off a mountain,” he continued.

“I’ve been waiting to tell this amazing story for six years, and I’m thrilled I get to do it now!”

“We know this mention of the Poconos will spark some nostalgia for those who have made special memories here and hope that it will make them want to return and make some more!” states Brian Bossuyt, executive vice president and CMO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.

“The Poconos has transformed into this unique four-season destination perfect for a family-friendly vacation, romantic getaway, or group retreat.”

Also in this episode, Adam is initially terrified when he and his friends are recruited to the William Penn Academy baseball team, but he quickly catches on to Principal Ball’s master plan. A short-sighted Barry is in denial about his pitching skills. Meanwhile, Geoff’s dad interferes in his relationship with Erica. “Major League’d” was written by Alex Barnow and directed by Lea Thompson.

“The Goldbergs” stars Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Bridesmaids”) as Beverly Goldberg, Patton Oswalt (“Ratatouille”) as adult Adam Goldberg, Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg, Troy Gentile (“Good Luck Chuck”) as Barry Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia (“The X Factor”) as Erica Goldberg, Sam Lerner as Geoff Schwartz, George Segal (“Just Shoot Me”) as Pops Solomon, and Jeff Garlin (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) as Murray Goldberg.

The sixth season of “The Goldbergs” premiered on Sept. 26, 2018. Goldberg and Doug Robinson are executive producers. This episode is produced by Adam F. Goldberg Productions, Doug Robinson Productions, and Happy Madison in association with Sony Pictures Television.
