Regaled with a chorus of expletive-laden boos, Denny Hamlin took the checkers under caution at the HighPoint.com 400 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond on Sunday. The victory was a milestone career 50th for Hamlin and made him the all-time leader at Pocono with his seventh track win. It was also the 600th win for Toyota.

In a frustrating race marred by 11 cautions, including three in a row off the green at the beginning of stage two, Hamlin kept the theme going with seven laps to go, putting Kyle Larson into the wall as the drivers battled for first place.

What could have been an exciting finish was dashed when Ryan Preece crashed in the final lap as Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., and Tyler Reddick pushed for the finish line. The yellow flag was thrown, ending the race with Hamlin’s No. 11 in the lead.

Proving there are indeed stupid questions, a reporter asked Hamlin if he raced Larson with respect, setting up what is destined to be a legendary sports quote: “We’re racing for the win. Are you shitting me?”
