SHELTER SUNDAY: Meet Spanky (brindle pit bull) and Donald (tabby cat)
Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge teams up with NEPA Scene every week for Shelter Sunday, a post that features dogs, cats, and occasionally some surprises up for adoption in the hopes of finding them a loving home.
Blue Chip Farm (974 Lockville Rd., Dallas) is a no-kill shelter, a place where no animal is too old or too unwanted to find a warm bed, good food, and most of all, love. Their mission is to provide a sanctuary where older, stray, abandoned, sick, or abused animals can wait to be adopted or simply live out their lives in safety and peace.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment. Call 570-333-5265 or visit bcfanimalrefuge.org for more information.
Spanky is a young, handsome, brindle pit bull who was rescued from a heartbreaking situation of neglect. We know Spanky is in a better place now, but we also know there is something even better out there for him.
Spanky has some of the best qualities of our favorite canine friends; he is lovable, loyal, and eager to learn. It’s almost as if he knows he was rescued and he truly appreciates even the smallest gesture – a kind word, a head pet, belly rub, and if he’s lucky, a trip to the puppy play park! Unfortunately, he is often overlooked by potential adopters because, first of all, he is a pit bull, and second, he is fearful of new people.
But, and this is a big but, once he is no longer fearful, he is a very loyal and loving animal. It takes just a little time and effort to help him feel more secure and confident. You can do it!
Hello, my name is Donald. I’m 2 years old, and I’m a laid-back kind of guy!
I’m extremely friendly and love attention. I also love lying in the cat tree, and everyone tells me I’m such a handsome guy, but I already knew that!
If you would like to adopt me, please visit our website to fill out an application or call 570-333-5265. Thank you!
