Marywood University in Scranton hosts free summer concerts at new amphitheatre Aug. 12-26

Marywood University’s Music, Theatre, and Dance Department has announced several free summer concerts and performances at the newly built Calabro Delfino Amphitheatre at the Learning Commons that are open to the public.

On Sunday, Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m., vocalist Nicole Rasmus, accompanied by Marty Ort on piano, will perform a concert featuring a wide range of genres, including standards, jazz, Motown, Broadway, and country music. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Fireplace Lounge in the Nazareth Student Center.

Vocalist Chris DiMattio, along with Bill Weber, retired music faculty member at Marywood University, will salute Frank Sinatra on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. DiMattio and Weber return to the stage with a jazz band to recreate their signature performance of “A Tribute to Frank Sinatra.” If there is inclement weather, the show will be held on the main stage of the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts.

Mike Mizwinski will hold a solo guitar performance on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. MiZ is a soulful rock/Americana artist from Scranton who is a well-rounded master of both acoustic and electric guitar. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held in the Fireplace Lounge in the Nazareth Student Center.
