Reggae rockers Dirty Heads and SOJA play Yuengling Concert Series at SteelStacks in Bethlehem on June 27

Reggae rock takes center stage when the Dirty Heads and SOJA, along with special guests The Green, perform at the SteelStacks in Bethlehem on Tuesday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. as part of the 2017 Yuengling Summer Concert Series.
Tickets for the concert, which takes place at the Levitt Pavilion (789 E. 1st St., Bethlehem) at the base of the former Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces, are $32.50 in advance or $35 the day of the show and go on sale this Thursday, March 2 to ArtsQuest Members and Friday, March 3 at 10 a.m. to the general public. They’ll be available at steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.
Hailing from Huntington Beach, California, the Dirty Heads have spent two decades chiseling their unique, multi-genre infused sound. Since the release of 2008’s “Any Port in a Storm,” the five-piece band – Jared Watson (vocals), Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell (vocals/guitar), Jon Olazabal (percussion), Matt Ochoa (drums), and David Foral (bass) – has consistently experimented with their sunny style, leaning heavily on reggae fused with hip-hop cornerstones and scaling back for more acoustic fare, darting between extremes.
The group’s most recent release, 2016’s “Dirty Heads,” hit No. 2 on the Billboard Top Alternative Albums chart, continuing the momentum of 2014’s “Sound of Change,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Alternative Albums chart. The group is well known for the smash single “Lay Me Down,” featuring Rome of Sublime with Rome, which topped the Alternative Songs chart for 11 weeks in 2010.
Based in the Washington, D.C., area, the Grammy-nominated band SOJA seamlessly blends reggae, go-go, hardcore, Latin, rock, and hip-hop into its distinctive sound. Originally formed by a group of friends while still in middle school, the band has built a massive, dedicated fan base around the world. It has sold more than 200,000 albums, headlined shows in more than 20 countries, and generated more than four million Facebook fans and 102 million YouTube views.
During its career, SOJA has toured with Dave Matthews Band, Incubus, 311, and appeared at major festivals, including Bonnaroo, attracting an almost Grateful Dead-like international fan base along the way, with caravans of diehards following them from city to city.
Alternative rock band Cake will kick off the Yuengling Summer Concert Series at the SteelStacks on Thursday, May 25. The Dirty Heads and SOJA concert is supported by media partners 107.1 SPIN Radio and 92.1 The Fuzz.
