Halloween came early to Mountain Sky last month when Darkenheavy Campfest took over the outdoor Jermyn music venue.

Held Friday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 29, NEPA Scene covered two of the three days of this inaugural horror-themed event that brought all types of heavy metal, punk rock, and hardcore music to two stages in a place typically known for jam bands rather than mosh pits. Along with horror movie screenings, pro-wrestling, sideshow performances, one-on-one combat demos, scary cosplay, fire breathers and twirlers, FetLife and NEPA Kinkster, alternative and odd vendors, dark art galleries, zombie ax throwing, campfire ghost stories, frightening walks and hayrides, rune and crystal readers, and fortune tellers, this fall “creepfest” of “left-of-center performances” was produced by Camp Rattler as only they could. The local music promotion and production team has already started work on Darkenheavy 2, scheduled for Sept. 24-26, 2020.

Local and national acts featured in photos and/or the YouTube playlist below include First Jason, Bad Luck 13 Riot Extravaganza, Tallah, Sleepsculptor, Toothless, Traverse the Abyss, Gods of Space, Royal Hell, Cut Up Naked Teenagers, Black Nihil, Prosody, Funeral Bastard, Sonic Salvation, Wife Swamp, Exciser, The Hands Resist, and Horseburner.
