As their moniker implies, Scranton alternative rock band The Boastfuls have had plenty to brag about since their debut in the Northeastern Pennsylvania music scene last year, making a name for themselves at every local venue as a premier bar band while working on their own their own material, even earning the title of Best New Artist in the 2018 Steamtown Music Awards.

With fans eagerly waiting the entire time, the hard-working trio is finally ready to release their first single, “Tequila,” today on Spotify and YouTube, with a music video debuting today exclusively on NEPA Scene. The song will be released on all digital music outlets, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon, on Monday and receive a radio premiere on Alt-Natives on Alt 92.1 this Saturday.

The in-your-face rock anthem is the band’s first official venture into original music. It was recorded at Goat Lair Studio in the Poconos, and veteran drummer Zhach Kelsch (Ajar, Fighting Zero, DIVE, Modern Lux) served as engineer and producer. Joe Loftus at JL Studios in Olyphant was then enlisted to mix and master the song.

“The Boastfuls are the coolest, tightest, and most exciting band happening in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, which is known for breeding exceptional bands and musicians. I was honored when they chose me to produce their first batch of songs and am super excited for the world to hear it,” Kelsch said.

The song prominently features the band’s aggressive guitar-driven style of modern rock. The influence of bands like Muse, Royal Blood, and Nothing But Thieves can be felt, but the group manages to carve out their own unique style on their first venture. “Tequila” is the perfect anthem for a night of partying – a great companion on a late-night drive or when you’re feeling the need to turn up the volume and sing along.

“There was no deep connection or meaningful story behind the song,” guitarist/vocalist Martin Monahan explained. “We actually went into the studio to record a different song.”

“For a warm up, we started jamming on ‘Tequila.’ Zhach was like, ‘What is that song?’ After some discussion, the song came together and just felt right,” bassist Chris Benitez continued.

“It just came out effortlessly,” added drummer Chad Wescott.

The young band has been performing together for less than two years but has already managed to make major waves. In addition to their Steamtown Music Award, they opened a sold-out show for actor/musician Drake Bell and played direct support for a leg of The Stonewall Vessels and The Morgana Phase’s summer tour.

Most notably, they’ve established themselves as one of the most sought-after bands in the Northeast, performing almost 125 shows in 2019.

The Boastfuls will release their single to a packed house at Stage West (301 N. Main Ave., Scranton) tonight at 8 p.m. Tickets are only $5 and available at the door. Joe Burke & Co. and Tatiana will open the evening following a special three-song acoustic set by the band at 7 p.m. Appropriately, Stage West will feature tequila specials all night – and the guys are planning to celebrate with a few shots with fans.

Steve Masterson, the owner of Stage West, expressed his excitement: “We love having The Boastfuls perform whenever the opportunity presents itself. They’re always high-energy and bring in a fun crowd.

“That lead singer, Marty, is a real dreamboat too.”
