From a press release:

The city of Hazleton, in partnership with Visit Luzerne County, has announced its inaugural Rockin’ the Mountain music series, which will take place this summer at City View Park. The all-ages shows will be free and open to the public.

The three weeks of live entertainment feature prominent tribute bands, local opening acts, and food and beverage vendors. This new series will serve as a companion to the popular Rockin’ the River concert series, held every July in Wilkes-Barre since 2019. The event area of the park (700 South Poplar St., Hazleton) opens at 5 p.m., and the music starts at 6 p.m.

Rockin’ the Mountain music schedule

Friday, June 21: Philadelphia Freedom: A Tribute to Elton John, with opening act Six Shots

Friday, June 28: An Evening With Stevie: A Tribute to Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac, with opening act Leighann & Company

Friday, July 5: Danny V’s 52nd Street Band: A Tribute to Billy Joel, with opening act Ostrich Hat

Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat is excited to showcase what the city of Hazleton has to offer to the area.

“We have worked extremely hard to improve the parks and recreational areas of the city. City View Park, which is the host of Rockin’ the Mountain, is a true hidden gem buried in the coal region,” he said.

“We are thrilled to bring the Rockin’ the Mountain Concert Series to Hazleton for the first time,” added Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo.

“Our goal is to create an extraordinary experience for music lovers and provide a platform for talented artists to showcase their skills. We believe this event will unite the community and foster a sense of pride in the Mountain City. This family-friendly event will create a festive atmosphere where friends and neighbors can come together and make lasting memories.”

Confirmed sponsors are Lehigh Valley Health Network; Visit Luzerne County (Luzerne County Convention and Visitors Bureau); The Luzerne Foundation; Park Place Properties; Hazleton Eye Specialists; Donald G. “When Romilda first approached Visit Luzerne County about working with the city of Hazleton on developing a concert series in Hazleton similar to what we’ve been doing in Wilkes-Barre with Rockin’ the River, we were excited about the opportunity,” said Alan Stout, executive director of Visit Luzerne County.

“We’ve already assembled a great planning committee based in Hazleton, and it’s been great working with Mayor Cusat and his team. Visit Luzerne County is very committed to serving all of Luzerne County. We’ve always had a deep commitment to supporting events in Southern Luzerne County, and we look forward to helping bring these three great nights of music to the Hazleton community.”

Ali McKittrick, Hazleton’s Parks and Recreation Director, noted, “Live music events like this one invite people to relive their best memories and make new ones together. Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. And when you see these live bands at Rockin’ the Mountain, you will feel like you are traveling back in time with your best friends of today.”
