As their brand new album, “Welcome to Fat City,” comes closer to release, Pottsville heavy metal band Crobot continue to premiere more groovy tunes for fans who just can’t wait.

Recently debuting “Play It Cool” on Crave, vocalist Brandon Yeagley introduced the second track on their sophomore album, which hits stores Sept. 23 via Wind-up Records.

“This slinky, slimy track tells the tale of global destruction, but what are you going to do when the big blue blanket falls from the sky? Panic? Aww nahw! Turn this up and cut a little rug,” he said. “It’s all a roll of the dice and probability ain’t on our side! If you thought we couldn’t get any funkier, you’d be a fool with cowbell ‘n all – here’s ‘Play It Cool!'”

The new 11-song record was recorded with producer Machine (Clutch, Lamb of God, Every Time I Die) and mixed by engineer Alan Moulder (Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, Them Crooked Vultures, Led Zeppelin). Within the last few months, we’ve heard the title track, “Plague of the Mammoths,” and “Not for Sale,” which also produced an amazing music video:

The band’s 2014 debut, “Something Supernatural,” was lauded by Yahoo! Music, Revolver, Billboard, Huffington Post, Drum Magazine, Guitar World, and Blabbermouth, and it was even featured as the “Pick of the Week” by VH1’s “That Metal Show,” according to a press release. Their incredible live shows have won over even more fans as they’ve toured with Motörhead, Volbeat, Anthrax, Clutch, Black Label Society, Chevelle, and now Sevendust this month.

For local “beardos,” as their fans are called, both Crobot and Sevendust are set to play the Rock Allegiance festival in Chester, just outside Philadelphia, on Sunday, Sept. 18 with Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer, and many more acts throughout the day.
