Mountain Sky, the outdoor music venue in Jermyn that has hosted live concerts throughout the spring and summer, just announced online that they’ve been shut down by Scott Township.

It’s unclear yet as to why this has occurred or if Mountain Sky will reopen, but the group that has occupied the 117 acres of historic land for the past few years posted some details in the following message on their Facebook page:

Dear friends of Mountain Sky,

The powers that be have spoken, and our worst fears are now a reality…

As of approximately 12:30 pm this afternoon Mountain Sky has been officially ordered to halt all upcoming events until further legal proceedings.

Despite coming to terms with the Scott Township Council as well as the land owners, setting and following guidelines that both parties could live with, the township has flexed it’s political muscle and bullied us into submission.

Right now we are unsure of our next move and we cannot say for sure if there will or will not ever be another Mountain Sky music festival.

As for Still Meadows Revue scheduled for this weekend, we are doing all we can to find a new location despite the extremely short notice.

Please understand that great efforts were put forth to preserve Mountain Sky. For some, our livelihoods have been stripped, accounts drained to pay lawyers and court costs… we are all hurting over this.

We will provide details about a possible new location for Still Meadows Revue as soon as we have them.

Our sincerest apologies to all of you who planned to come to Mountain Sky this weekend or any other future event this summer.

The third annual Still Meadows Revue festival with the Still Hand String Band and many other acts was scheduled for July 9-12 at Mountain Sky. It has since been moved to Sandy Valley Campground (199 Valley Rd., White Haven) with some schedule changes, as confirmed by a post on the band’s Facebook page:

Ok everyone – Because of situations out of our control – Mountain Sky is not able to host Still Meadows Revue – the festival is still on though!!! We are going to be partying at Sandy Valley Campground! Please help spread the word! We will be adjusting the schedule slightly – all tickets bought for still meadows through mountain sky will be honored. Tickets are still available through Mountain Sky and will be available at the gate. Thursday pre party tickets will still be $10.

We’ll update the story when more information becomes available.
