3 NEPA comic stores celebrate Free Comic Book Day on May 7 with sales, artist signings, and more
Now in its 15th year, the first Saturday in May is always Free Comic Book Day, when comic shops across the country give away special comics to fans of all ages, and three local comic shops in Scranton, West Pittston, and Honesdale will be celebrating again on May 7 with giveaways, sales, artist signings, cosplayers, and more.
From 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Comics on the Green (307 N. Washington Ave., Scranton) will have sales on comics, action figures, and other collectibles; face painting for kids; and DC Comics artist Tom Derenick (“Suicide Squad,” “Injustice,” “Secret Six”) will be on hand to sign books and draw sketches.
From 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Rubber Mallet Comics (802 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston) will not only be celebrating FCBD, but also its fourth anniversary with 50 percent off all in-stock trade paperbacks, hardcovers, and graphic novels; three for $10 on specially marked clearance collections and books (normally $5 each or 5 for $20); drastically reduced pricing on action figures, statues, and other non-comic book items; clearance comics at 10 cents each; back issue books as low as $1 each; and the shop’s brand new t-shirt design will be on sale.
From 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Letterhead Comics (1023 Main St., Suite 1, Honesdale) will have store-wide sales, door prizes, and costumed heroes.
All three stores will have a limited supply of the following free comics made specifically for FCBD by various publishers, so show up early for the best selection:
