From a press release:

Mick’s Barber Shop in Honesdale will host the fifth biennial Mick’s Buzz Off for Cancer on Saturday, June 29 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.

Ask family and friends to make a donation in exchange for your promise to have your hair buzzed, and if you can’t brave the buzz, you can sponsor a “buzzee” or simply make a general donation. A minimum donation to have your head buzzed is $35 and includes a free T-shirt.

All proceeds benefit the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute in Scranton, so all money raised stays local to help ease the burden for cancer patients in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The person or business raising the most money will share in the charitable donation.

During the event there will be a before and after photo station, raffle prizes, and music by DJs Gary Moss and Master Alden. Raffle prizes have been donated by the Museum at Bethel Woods, Alley Whey Eatery, Dyberry Forks, The Settlers Inn, Cochecton Fire Station, White Stag Farms, Bà & Mẹ, Black and Brass Coffee Company, Gather Honesdale, Narrowsburg Proper, Jerry Land Jewelers, Art’s for Him and Her Too, Freedlove, 2 Queens Honey, and more. Call 570-253-2910 for more information, to volunteer, or to make a donation.

Recently, teachers and students rallied together at Honesdale High School on May 31 in the name of fundraising. The school, in collaboration with Mick’s Barber Shop, held a “Mobile Buzz Off” to promote Mick’s Buzz Off for Cancer event. Many students, faculty, and staff donated for a great cause and to see their classmates and colleagues get buzzed. They raised $1,676.40 to be donated to the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute on behalf of Mick’s Buzz Off.

In addition, for the past three years, HHS has allowed students to wear shorts to school for a day for $2; all proceeds are given back to the community. In the past, they have donated to the Honesdale Area Pool Project, Wayne Highlands Oh What Fun Holiday Celebration, and Buzz Off for Cancer.

Mick’s Barber Shop (511 Main St., Honesdale) is owned and operated by fourth generation master barber and recent cancer warrior Michele “Mick” Frigoletto. Mick’s offers classic and modern barbering in an old-school setting. From Mick’s Signature barber cut, hot towel shaves, high and tights, and flat tops to shape-ups, hard-parts, fades, and free WiFi, Mick’s does it all with a nod to the past and an eye on the future.

The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute is a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to ease the burden of cancer in NEPA. They serve the area through their focus on community and patient services, hospital and practice support services, and cancer surveillance.
