From a press release:

As downtown Scranton businesses decorate their storefront windows in time for the holiday season, Lackawanna County will light up the former Globe Store for its second annual Lackawanna Winter Market.

A successor to the ScrantonMade Holiday Market of years past, the Lackawanna Winter Market will kick off this month’s First Friday art walk on Dec. 6 with The Globe Store holiday lighting at 4:30 p.m.

The market promises “a weekend filled with music, food, fun, and lots of unique shopping in a very large warm and toasty Holiday Shopping Center,” with three areas to shop in heated tents just outside the building. The recently reopened Charl-Mont restaurant will also welcome hungry shoppers in The Globe, which is now home to the offices of the Lackawanna County Government Center (123 Wyoming Ave., Scranton).

“With spaces for over 70+ vendors, you’re sure to find something for everyone on your shopping list this holiday season – you might even find a little something for yourself, too!” the press release states.

Lackawanna Winter Market hours are Friday, Dec. 6 from 5 p.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The live entertainment is still TBA (other than The Frost, an acoustic duo playing Dec. 8 from 11 a.m.-noon), but events for the whole family are planned to run throughout the weekend, including visits from Santa.

The 100 block of Wyoming Avenue will be shut down starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 and running through Tuesday, Dec. 10 until 5 p.m. for setup and tear-down. No parking will be allowed on the block during these times. Employee parking in the bakery lot will remain open. However, people cannot exit onto Wyoming Avenue and must use Penn Avenue to get in and out.

To accommodate handicapped parking, there will be an area for short-term parking in front of Citizens Savings Bank on the corner of Wyoming and Lackawanna Avenues.
